| Sir Terence Conran Joins RCA Sir Terance Conran succeeds the Earl of Snowdon as provost of the Royal College of Art Sir Terance Conran succeeded the Earl of Snowdon as 'Provost of the Royal College of Art', following Lord Snowdon's official retirement on the 31 December 2003. Conran's appointment is for a term of three years and will raise the profile of the college even further. With a string of major commercial design achievements under his belt, Conran is one of the UK's most well-known designers; he is also founder of the Design Museum. Professor Sir Christopher Frayling, Rector of the Royal College of Art said: "We warmly welcome Sir Terance Conran to the role of Provost. He shares our passion for excellence in art and design and our commitment to innovation and creativity which enrich everyday life. I am sure that he will prove an inspiration to all at the college." With regard to his new post, Sir Terance Conran relishes the opportunity to be part of the renowned college. "London is a great centre for creative excellence, one of the finest in the World," says Conran, "and the Royal College of Art is at the heart of many of the exciting developments in this city. I hope I can continue the excellent work of Lord Snowdon and play my part in inspiring the next generation of creative talent to ensure that Britain always remains a benchmark for the very best of artistic excellence." |
